RIMPAC

As luck would have it, my weekend in Hawaii seems to coincide with the world's largest Naval exercise, RIMPAC.  Having just stumbled across the Facebook page, I was really very excited to see that the ships in Pearl Harbor are open to visitors on Saturday.  Then realised that I don't arrive in time to get there (I arrive 1730) and then that it's for DoD family only.

There's supposed to be 200 aircraft in the exercise, so there should be plenty to watch!

No wonder hotels were a little pricey, the Best Western at the airport was $180 and I'm pleased I've hired a car to get around, the original idea being to visit museums....the Pacific Aviation Museum at Pearl Harbor and the Naval Aviation Museum at Barbers Point.
